SD Seed organizes various programs on a wide range of topics and provides allied assistance for the students’ benefit, which creates awareness, enhances the knowledge, boosts the confidence of the beneficiaries and their parents.
TO PROVIDE AID FOR EDUCATION
“Matoshri Premabai Jain Higher Education Scholarship”
The criteria for this Scholarship is :
- The student should be resident of Jalgaon district.
- Pass Std. 10th & above exams in first attempt with distinction. In case of scholarship renewal, student should pass previous year’s exam.
- The combined annual income of the family should be less than Rs.1.5 Lac.
- Admission is to be taken from government quota or free seat. It should not be from management quota or paid seat.
TO SUPPORT INITIATIVES TO ENSURE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF EDUCATION
It is pertinent to mention here that this scholarship amount alone does not fulfill all the requirements and aspirations of the student. Hence, the beneficiaries are given a comprehensive educational package, through which along with the scholarship, various programs and allied assistance are provided to the students.
The Beneficiaries will be provided with a Beneficiary identity card, which will help them to avail benefits. The details of these multiple assistance benefits will be made available to the Beneficiaries through their respective Beneficiary Accounts on our website.
1. Educational loans from banks or other financial institutions
The scholarship normally does not take care of all the expenditures of a student. At any point of time every student does require additional funds for higher education and allied activities. Such students identified after the designated scrutiny procedure and a database of such students shall be created so as to pass it on to any other individual or institution that may wish to financially aid such students.
SD-SEED has entered into an agreement with various banks and financial institutions, who disburse loans for higher education.
This will help the Beneficiaries in getting additional financial assistance to continue their education. Beneficiaries approach the SD Seed Office to avail the forms and documents as per the requirement of the Bank / Financial Institution.
2. Accommodation in other towns & cities:
SD SEED has entered into an agreement with hostels and various student conducive accommodation facilities for students migrating from Jalgaon. These students would benefit from staying, studying and travelling together and will help the students to bond and create life long friendships.
3. Libraries:
SD-SEED has entered into an agreement with various Libraries, which will help the students to get the membership at a discounted rate.
4. Discount assistance for classes
SD-SEED has entered into an agreement with various coaching or computer classes to enroll their beneficiaries at discounted or group charges. An arrangement to group all such students in the same batch could be made for maximum benefit.
5. Discount assistance for purchase of books, uniforms, stationery and other educational material
SD-SEED has a tie up with various whole sale or retail outlets of books, stationary, educational material, uniforms to provide material at discounted rates to their beneficiaries. Such discounts will help in easing the financial burden.
6. Free Medical aid
Beneficiaries who are afflicted with any sickness, injury or handicap and are unable to continue their education can approach SD Seed for obtaining Free medical aid. The soft copy of requisite form is available on Beneficiary Log-in (on Website) and hard copy is available in the Office and can be signed by the Beneficiary or Parent.
7. Coaching for Public and other competitive examinations:
Identification of classes or individuals, who are renowned in the coaching and preparation for competitive exams shall be done. An agreement with such providers shall be entered into for SD-SEED beneficiaries to avail discount in fees and other benefits.
8. Career Guidance
Choosing the right career can be a very daunting task especially in a world which offers an array of paths, all of which seem to be leading to a golden goal. Careers can actually make or break one’s life, so it is important to make the right choice.
SD-SEED organizes career awareness and guidance sessions for all students of class 8th and above. These sessions create an awareness among students & parents of various career options. It also helps beneficiaries in pursuing the right courses, in the right colleges and in choosing a suitable career.
9. Career Counseling & Mentoring
Each student has different set of strength and weakness. Inclination, compatibility and growth opportunities of that sector play a very important role in deciding the future career path for the student. The Counselor will administer a systematic test and interpret the report vis-à-vis individual’s strengths, weaknesses and interests.
Counseling definitely puts the student in the right direction. Counselor will interact with individual student & parents. It is a process of career preparation. It is a careful process and provides visualization in changing circumstances, educational structure and other matters. SD-SEED will provide career counseling to all selected students.
Student mentoring is a one-to-one relationship between a student and a mentor that occurs over a prolonged period of time. The mentor provides consistent support, guidance, and concrete help to a student who is in need of a positive role model.
The goal of student mentoring is to help students involved in the mentoring program to gain the skills and abilities to be responsible for their own futures. It supports students in program completion, improving interpersonal relationships, confidence building and transitioning to further education or the workforce.
10. Providing uniforms and books
SD SEED provides free uniforms and books to school children of all classes, as an incentive to increase their determination and motivate to study.
TO BUILD COMPETENCE TO IMPROVE EMPLOYABILITY
1. Lectures, Seminars, Workshops
SD-SEED organizes lectures, seminars and workshops for the students, which will give them an opportunity to interact and listen to many eminent and renowned knowledge personalities. This will help the students to become aware of new happenings in their respective fields. It will also boost their self confidence and knowledge base. Workshops over two or more days will also be organized to enhance skills and knowledge of students.
2. Soft skills training :
Each individual has a distinct persona that can be developed, polished and refined. Soft skills training quintessentially means enhancing and grooming one’s outer and inner self to bring about a positive change in one’s life. This process includes personality development, boosting one’s confidence, enhanced oral communication abilities and fluency in English, widening ones scope of knowledge, developing certain hobbies or skills, learning fine etiquettes and manners, adding style and grace to the way one looks, talks and walks, time management and overall imbibing oneself with positivity, liveliness and peace. SD-SEED will arrange such programs on Soft skills training for the students on regular basis.
3. Student Assessment Program (SAP)
In the current education system, Stds. 10th and 12th are termed as turning point years for a student. Selecting a stream after 10th is a very important decision in student’s life to plan his/her career. To take this decision the interest of a student plays a major role; where as, skills, aptitude and mapping of these skills is also equally important. To know the strengths, weaknesses and interest levels of students SD-SEED will conduct aptitude test through Student Assessment Program (SAP) for Class 8 students.
This test will help students to understand a realistic assessment of their skills and aptitudes at an early age. This will further help them in matching their potential with their interest, or modifying / developing their individual skills to match their tastes.
Aptitude and ability tests are designed to assess logical reasoning ability or thinking performance and capacity. This test is a type of Psychometric test, which is used to test and measure mental abilities such as Intellectual Quotient (IQ), interests, aptitude, values and personality of an individual in a standard and scientific way.
4. Vocational and technical training:
Vocation and technical training can help students to develop their skills and enhance their employability. Keeping in mind the Vision, SD Seed will invite professionals and experts from various fields, to give students knowledge and create awareness of various vocational and technical training programmes.
5. Empowerment of Girls
The program titled ‘Empowerment of Girls’ is organized to increase the self confidence among girls and make them aware of modern changes on their life style.
6. Procedures and assistance for admissions to educational institutes:
Information, details of procedures and application forms for admission to various Educational institutions or any other assistance that the student may require shall be made available and assistance in actually procuring admission will also be extended.
7. “Dnyan–Yadnya” (e-Newsletter)
SD-SEED has an e-newsletter, “Dnyan–Yadnya” which is emailed to all beneficiaries and is also available on our website. The e-newsletter carries articles which are a source of inspiration and guidance to the students, such as various programs conducted for students, multiple assistance schemes, testimonials, health tips, current updates on education field etc.,
TO CREATE A NEW AND NURTURING ECO-SYSTEM
1. Parent counseling
Parents are the key to a child’s all round development. If the parents themselves are unaware of the avenues and opportunities available for their children then it could hamper the progress of a child. This scenario is common in rural areas and thus the need for a parent counseling center. A Parent counseling cell has been set up and various experts are invited to address the parents and their queries and anxieties and regular interactions organised. This center could subsequently have parents of those students who have benefited from the SD-SEED scheme also share their experiences with those who wish to enroll their children for this scheme.
2. Teacher Training
To train teachers in imparting value based education.
FUTURE PROGRAMS
1. Networking of beneficiaries:
Events, regular seminars, workshops, etc., shall be arranged for the students to enable them to congregate on a common platform and set up a networking community.
2. Formation of a placement cell:
A professional placement cell is set up which will network between the beneficiaries and the Industry. Placement brochures of the beneficiaries shall be circulated in the Industry and the Industry shall be invited for campus interviews and placements. There will also be a tie with Industry stalwarts to sponsor students with the skills that they would require in their own industries so as to create a bond between the student and themselves. These various initiatives will together help the beneficiaries to achieve their occupational aspirations.
3. Education Fair
To create awareness on latest education opportunities available.
4. Alumni
All those students who benefit from SD-SEED and its activities shall automatically become the alumni of the institution and carry the baton forward. Every batch that passes out will take over some of the activities of SD-SEED and be fully involved in them.
5. Scholarship fund by alumni to be routed through SD-SEED:
There will be an undertaking in the scholarship form that those students who benefit from SD-SEED and its activities shall in turn take up the responsibility of funding at least five students once they begin earning. This will enable the fund to grow, more students to benefit from it and Inculcate a sense of being able to contribute towards society in the students
